We're now forecasting that $8.8 billion will be spent, up 3.8 percentage points from our forecast four months ago. Activity in early 2018 caused us to rethink a few things. What's changed? We adjusted expenditures on digital media and direct mail downward and upped our estimates for radio, outdoor, and newspapers. This 15-page report includes 10 charts and graphics, including analysis on which states will be the hottest for total spending, as well as spending on U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Governor, State Legislature, and Local races. It also recasts our state-by-state spending estimates, breaking out spending for each on federal, state, and local elections, as well as special-interest spending.
